Lot Photo Description Realized
Lot 1516
1921. NGC graded MS-64. Really pleasant, brilliant and having an above-average strike. If you don't like this, you don't really like Peace dollars.

Lot 1517
MS-66 1922-D Peace Dollar. NGC graded MS-66. Frosty luster beneath a gentle layer of gold toning that spans over the entire coin. Pristine surfaces; the fields and devices show virtually no signs of contact whatsoever. Well struck for the issue, with full hair on Liberty and sharp details on most of the feathers on the eagle.

Lot 1519
1923-D. PCGS graded MS-66. Peace dollars--who needs them? Common as chick peas, aren't they? They sure are, in just BU. But in Superb Gem BU, what are they? Rarities, that's what they are. They are also something very special to behold--jewels that gleam and fascinate the eye, especially the highly trained numismatic eye. Here's the perfect example of this mystifying quality--a true Gem, an MS66 that gleams and shimmers and fascinates. This example is extra-special as well, for a dramatic diebreak encircles the obverse: perhaps the dies came together with such a clang that they shattered, striking this very coin. Every dollar fanatic should love this coin! Pop: 21 graded MS66 by PCGS, with none better. (NGC has graded 11 MS66s, none better either.) Common? Judge for yourself!

Lot 1520
1925-S. PCGS graded MS-64. A handsome, gleaming Peace dollar which is the very definition of its numerical grade: without a strong glass, it appears at once to be a Gem. A few scuffs only take it out of that classification. Mostly bright white with some pale champagne color. Very scarce, with a fairly low population in the higher grades.

1926. PCGS graded MS-65. Some haziness. Black spots here and there, all small (indicating long storage before dipping). A number of pinpoint ticks on the reverse. Might benefit from a bath.

1926-D. MS-60 Plus. Pristine and original, delicately toned on the obverse, more toning on the reverse. The surfaces, fields and devices are amazingly clean for the grade. Certain to make a few rounds at the grading services soon after the sale. Totally original, from an old collection.

Lot 1526
Gem 1927-D Peace Dollar. NGC graded MS-65. Frosty and bright throughout; without toning or bagmarks to deter the examining eye. Scarce in this grade and nearly impossible to find better. Denver did well on this coin, the eagle's feathers are full and Liberty's abundant curls show clearly. The wide open fields show widely scattered marks, and none are deep or problematic. One for the astute numismatist who needs this key date in gem condition.

1934-S. MS-60 Plus. A very frosty, original, undipped and well struck coin. This one walked in to a small coin shop and was consigned to us. Seldom found this nice, and almost never with the delicate golden toning that graces this example. The key date to the Peace Dollar series in splendid condition.
